Here’s the question I should ask myself regularly (daily?) :
– What battle am I currently in?
Because there is always a battle, for the rest of this life. There are breaks, yes. But they still happen on the battlefield.
Imagine a wide open field, random parts of armor abandoned all over the place, arrows sticking from the ground. Among the dusty air there's a small royal canopy. The king sits beneath it, full armor on. He sips wine from a copper cup, looking at the void, lost in thought.
That’s you. That’s you during a better season of your life. The enemy army is currently regrouping behind the hill and by the way, one of the servants holding your tent is their spy.
So what battle I’m in? What am I fighting for right now? Against what? What are the next steps? How to win the next chapter? What will be the win like? How to advance ahead of time, so I’m not pushed back to defense?
Cause the enemy is countable. Their resources are not infinite. I can actually beat them the next time. And the next. And the next. I just gotta have a strategy. And realize it is a battle in the first place.
The fight is on. It’s a fight for my soul. And the other souls too. The good news is that the general war’s been won already. The bad news is that it takes ages until the enemy fully surrenders and I’m among the ones in charge of executing it.
Shitty job, I know.
But still, I didn’t qualify even for that. Someone had to pimp my resume...
